Host specification - since the Windows Server 2023 Datacenter and Standard editions are licensed by physical core, this tool requires information about the number of servers/hosts, the number of CPUs per server, and the number of cores per CPU.
Max # of OSEs/VMs per host - the maximum number of Operating System Environments (OSEs) that will be runningon one server. Note that License Mobility across Server Farms is not available for Windows Server; therefore, each of the hosts must be licensed for the maximum load in an environment where OSEs/VMs are expected to move between hosts on a regular basis.If you need to calculate the number of Standard Edition licenses for such environment, adjust this value accordingly.
This tool takes into account the following:
All physical cores must be licensed;A minimum of 8 core licenses is required for each physical processor and a minimum of 16 core licenses is required for each server;Standard Edition provides rights for up to 2 Operating System Environments or Hyper-V containers when all physical cores in the server are licensed.
